A 23-year-old woman was abducted on a busy road in Faridabad’s Sector 16 area on Saturday and allegedly gang-raped in a moving jeep for around two hours before being dumped on roadside.The woman was on her way home from her office around 7 p.m. when four men in a jeep pulled her inside even as her colleagues watched. The culprits then drove towards Palwal. The Faridabad Police were swung into action soon after the woman’s colleagues alerted her family who informed the police about the abduction. Several police teams were despatched in different directions to rescue the woman and security was tightened at check-points. She was found near a petrol pump in Sikri area around 9 p.m., a Faridabad Police spokesperson said. The woman in her statement to the police revealed that the men took turns to rape her in the moving vehicle and switched off her mobile phone. A Special Investigation Team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Against Women) Pooja Dabla has been constituted for a probe into the matter. “The medical examination of the woman has been conducted confirming the assault. Her statement before the magistrate has also been recorded. The probe so far has revealed that the culprits were four in number and were not known to the victim. The matter is under investigation,” said Ms. Dabla.
